This 4th Of July...We Honor The...Fictional Black Dentist Who...Saves Fifty Black School Kids During... Heavy Revolutionary War Fighting!...

 

A Dentist is starting off the nice day 

beautifully by

watching the sunrise over 

Rhode Island's

Nanaquaket Pond

and listening to 

noisy Birds

and nosy

Turkeys.

So, Doctor Christopher Locanda,

who apprenticed in France and Spain,

is in no hurry to leave, so he

slowly stands up and 

lazily stretches for a couple of minutes,

then he 

proceeds at a relaxed pace 

back to his Cabin/Dental office,

and on his way,

he pauses to admire a

hard-working 

beaver community.

Now,

upon reaching his office,

Doctor Christopher Locanda,

sees a bunch of kids standing by 

the front door!...with an Adult.

As he walks over to them, some of the children say,

"Hi, Doctor Locanda!...We

heard about you!"

And another says, 

"You fix teeth, huh, Mister?

"He's a Doctor, Shola!...Call him Doctor," says

this Lady...their Teacher...

"Hi there, Doctor Locanda, I'm their teacher,

Mrs. Jamison...All fifty of us 

are from a school about two miles 

down the way,

and 

we decided to take a field trip and find out

more of what you do," she explains 

as she shakes hands with the Doctor...

Now, the Doctor says, "Oh boy, it looks like 

I'm, I mean we...

are going to have some fun today! But first...

...I need to know who wants some

fried fish cakes!"

And these kids say,

"I do, I do, I do!"

"We want some too,

Doctor!"

And this little one asks, "Are those

real fish cakes?"

"You betcha!" smiles the Doctor!

So as he fixes at least two fish cakes for 

each of the

big crowd of kids,

while he explains what he does as a Dentist.

"How did you learn how to cook

so good," ask

these students.

"My Daddy taught me how to cook them,

and my brothers taught me how to eat them!," he laughs.

"Did your brothers, leave you any,

ask these two.

I had eight brothers and four sisters and 

if I ate slow, I was on a diet!,"

says Dr. Locanda,

and all the kids laugh, including the teacher.

But when they were about finished,

they all hear some

loud noises and explosions, plus 

a lot of gun shots.

Now, one of the Doctor's neighbors

rushes by and warns, 

"There are

soldiers from both sides coming this way!

All of you better leave and get out of here now!

That battling of the Revolutionary War is  

getting closer!

Now, all of the kids don't look

so happy!

So, Dr. Locanda immediately 

tells everyone to 

follow him to a safe place, 

while he scoops up the remaining fish cakes.

And wow, do those kids

make haste out of there and into a wooded area,

because there are

active

Revolutionary War maneuverings with

soldiers

on both sides 'biting the dust!'

Now, the fleeing group comes upon a member of 

the1st Rhode Island Regiment of the Continental Army 

in the woods, and he directs, 

"Why don't you all...

go deeper into the woods to get more safe...and go 

east to the Big Pond!"

"Great idea," says Doctor Locanda...Soon, the Doctor finds a  cave and all fifty of them  go 

inside

and see this...

...and, moving right along, 

they see this further on...

...and the same little boy asks,

"You know where you're going, right?"

"I sure do," says the Doctor...

And they travel some more, 

but soon, they encounter some

...OMGosh...Bats!...Making one of the 

Little Black Girls

yell for help!...

which, in turn, makes all of

the

Bats scatter!

Well, they finally get out of there...and...yes...

they make it to 

Nanaquaket Pond!

Whoa!...Will you look at this!...

...Another Brave Soldier from the 1st Rhode Island Regiment 

is stationed at the ready on the shore 

of the Pond...

And he smiles "Welcome all My Brothers and Sisters!"

Now,

this girl asks, "Can you save us from this War?"

And the Ship's Captain says , "Yes I can!"

But wouldn't you know it!...Some kids are already in the water

splashing around and 

having a good time!

But after a while, 

the same little boy runs up to 

Doctor Christopher Locanda and asks,

"You're going to take us Home and bring us 

back here tomorrow...with fried Fish Cakes?"

And the Good Doctor looks at the Boy and 

Mrs. Jamison and the others and Smiles and says,

..."Sounds good to Me!"
